I've been sorting out old photos and in the back of one I found the order of service for the funeral of Charles Portland Robinson in Chesterfield on 9th February 1996. I think he was the Charles P Robinson II mentioned in the history. He was my dad's commanding officer during World War 2, Captain or Major Robinson? They were able to see each other not long before Mr Robinson died and my dad (Stephen Johnson)was welcomed as an old comrade.

It seems they were a family of real old-fashioned, almost feudal, employers, and much loved by the people of Chesterfield.

Found a Paddi leaflet on clearing out my wife's mother's house. She was born in 1948 and must have been a Paddi baby when they first became available. Thanks for putting this information online, it is very informative. And you are right about biodegradability.

I ran the 3rd COSIFITS machine at Chesterfield in 1980 and I'm sad that it is no longer a name in the UK market. Would love to hear from anyone with memories of the Chesterfield factory at that time.

I discovered your site researching the developement of Disposable Nappies, I's brought back memories of helping my mother changing my baby sisters using Paddi Pads in the late 60s/ early 70s when I was a young boy. very interesting!
