PADDI  PATENTS

(Nappies are called diapers in America)
1947  - Mrs Hunter Gordon started making Paddi Garments herself for friends. She made over 400 at her kitchen table.
 
April 1948  - An application was made for a Patent.
 
7th Dec 1948  - A letter was recieved back from the Patent Agent.
 
March 1949  - The provisional Patent was granted.
 
12 October 1949  - The full Patent was granted in the UK  for a waterproof knicker-like garment with press-stud fasteners.

November 8th 1949  - Agreement signed; Robinsons  to take over the patent for the sale and maufacture of the garment.
 
November 1949  - The name Paddi was decided.
 
30th November 1949  - Paddi went on sale.
 
4 January  UK/ 21 November  1949 USA - application made for patent in the USA 

 
1950  - USA  Patent was initially rejected.
 
6 November 1951   - USA patent granted - and the rest of the world
